Most of us need a little bit of creativity at our work one way or another. People working on creative industries, such as myself (creating new fragrances!), know what it feels like having a creativity block–it’s frustrating, I know! But as a fragrance specialist, I have also experienced different kinds of feeling when I get to smell some of the essential oils that we have here at our office, which makes me want to write about how each of the essential oil triggers our senses. Hopefully, this will motivate and focus not only on the creative side, but also on focusing on tasks that you’ll be doing throughout your career.
When you’re dealing with essential oils, these are natural chemicals that interact with your senses. Different kinds of oils trigger one or more of your emotions and moods. That’s why on our part, we’d like to keep on our mind on the right track when it comes to picking our oils. This means that we can manipulate what we want to feel with the oils that we’re picking.
My personal favorite! Since Lavender has a such a calming scent, this would be better for communication. This releases your calmness and removes your insecurities and anxiety. It releases an emotional honesty in the workplace and that’s great especially when you’re working around groups.
The spice of the peppermint makes you alert and focused. It invigorates your mind as you work tirelessly at the task that you have in front of you. At the same time, this gives you a chance to take a step back and breathe as you clear your mind–resetting you to concentrate more.
*Quick tip: you can get a premixed Peppermint and Lavender for that perfect combo smell! 😉
This scent can give you the confidence you need when you have a presentation coming up or just by tackling the day ahead. It gives you the drive and optimism that feels elating. This is perfect in the mornings when you want to start your day ahead.
Spritz on some Jasmine Room Spray on your surrounding for that instant boost.
The name also connects on the senses that triggers you. This gives you the clarity and the vision on what you want to work on something creative. This gives you an outside the box perspective of things and expands your horizons. I might be exaggerating a bit here with those words, but this is perfect when you want to have that idea in your mind that you want to get it out.
Although Lavender gives you already calmness, Frankincense, known as the King of Oils, gives you a different kind of calming approach. The scent soothes your mind and body and loosens you up more, at the same time, can be a guide to a clearer mind when you have a lot of things in your plate. This is perfect when you want to stop for a minute and take a step back on your work.
Last but not the least, this scent triggers your happy thoughts. If you feel like you’re in a hostile work environment, or maybe you just noticed that you’ve been grumpy all the time, this scent is perfect for you. A quick pick-me-up to bring out the joy and playfulness in your senses, and gives you a time to play around your work instead of just doing the things you do. It can give you a creative boost or just have that smile in your face. Either way, that would feel great throughout the day!
Those oils can be a lot of help in your life. If you integrate them (and maybe schedule your diffuser or spray) you can manipulate your brain to doing things that you want to do and create or help you with your work. Of course, check your doctor for allergies, pregnancy issues, or if you have a baby with you to make sure these essential oils do not harm you. A fresh mind can lead to great ideas.
Hope these guide you throughout your day and live through your scentses.
