Perfume is an accessory that I wear to make me feel good about the day. It sets a good mood to start a hectic workday and can help in boosting my energy on a sluggish morning.
As much as I would love to have perfume and its scent stay the whole day, most of the time, it just doesn’t happen… and that is totally NORMAL. Fragrances aren’t designed to last the whole day anyway.
Here are some tips to make it last longer.
Spritzing perfume on the pulse points such as the wrist, behind the ears, and on the chest can help keep the scent. The secret is knowing when to apply it and not just where.
Using perfume before leaving the house will not help in keeping the scent but spraying perfume upon getting out of the shower can prolong the life of a fragrance on your skin.
A well-hydrated skin can better hold the scent of the perfume. Spritz perfume before applying skin moisturizer or lotion to smell sweet and good all day. The scent sticks to my skin for the whole day and there is no need to spritz the perfume constantly. Even when my skin is dry, the moisturizer/lotion helps the fragrances stay on longer.
There are also other factors that contribute to how long a fragrance lasts on your skin.
The type of perfume used is one big factor. Eau de parfum has a higher concentration of oil in the fragrance and helps the perfume last longer. Compared to Eau de Parfum, Eau de Toilette and Eau de Cologne have lower concentrations of fragrance oils and tend to fade faster.
Using the right type of perfume in certain types of weather can also help in keeping the scent on the body.
For colder seasons, opulent, comforting and bold scents are perfect colder seasons whereas warmer seasons beg for something fresher.
So what’s they key to making fragrances last longer on the skin?
Basically 2 things: Moisturize and Fragrance Oil concentration. The more hydrated your skin is and the higher concentration of fragrance you’re using, the longer it will last.
Moisturize and spritz on!
